At Camp David, the President began his day with telephone calls with Ruud Lubbers, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Felipe Gonzalez, Prime Minister of Spain, and Amir Isa Khalifa, Amir of Bahrain. He then spoke with National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft. Later in the day, the President spoke with Secretary of State James A. Baker, III, and in the evening watched "Silence of the Lambs."
